The Menu

Their other menu items consist of a range of healthy choices such as soups, salads, sandwiches and pastries. The bakery-cafe offers foods that are free of artificial colors, dyes, flavors, and preservatives. They offer antibiotic-free chicken and their ingredients don’t have trans-fat. Leadership of Panera Bread

Ron Shaich was the first the CEO of Panera Bread. He served as CEO of the company from 1984 to 2010. He took a two-year break and then served again as CEO from 2012 to January of 2018. According to Shaich, he saw that the company’s growth was slowing and wanted to step in and change that dynamic. He is now serving as an executive on Panera Bread’s Board of Executives. Shaich is also the founder of the Au Bon Pain bakery-cafe chain, which he founded in 1981. Shaich sold Au Bon Pon in 1999 in order to focus on building up Panera Bread, and ironically, Panera Bread is now scheduled to buy Au Bon Pain. Shaich received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Clark University and a Masters in Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.

Blaine E. Hurst took over as CEO of Panera Bread in January of 2018. He was the President of Panera Bread from 2016 to 2017 before becoming CEO. He also served as the company’s Chief Transformation and Growth Officer from 2010 to 2016. Hurst received his Bachelor in Arts degree in Computer Science from Indiana University.
